MIN5433 History and Theology I: Ancient to Medieval

This course is a survey of church history from the New Testament period to the late Middle Ages. The focus will encompass both the historical and doctrinal developments of Christianity. Special attention will be paid to trinitarian doctrine and missionary efforts in the course of historical developments. The church’s monumental leaders and thinkers will be examined through both secondary and primary sources, from the early Church Fathers to medieval voices. Students will be encouraged to think both critically and generously about the varied legacies of the Christian tradition.
