Campuses of Richmont

Richmont blended two teaching campuses in 2001 under one corporate name: a campus in Atlanta, Georgia and a campus in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Students may reside in either city to complete most coursework and the practicum and internship requirements. However, students from both campuses may attend intensive-format courses offered at the sister campus in order to complete degree requirements. A third online campus was introduced and launched in 2015 for the Richmont School of Ministry, and the School of Counseling program joined the online environment shortly thereafter. The three campuses function as one with a balance of administrative staff and full-time faculty having offices in Atlanta and Chattanooga. Faculty members maintain a consistent presence at each location to serve student needs for consultation, advising, and mentoring. The unity of Richmont is thus preserved while offering the convenience of two locations.

Counseling Centers

Richmont University provides mental health services to the community through the Henegar Counseling Center (Chattanooga, TN) and the Richmont Trauma Center (Atlanta, GA), both located on its respective campuses. These centers offer assessment and counseling to individuals, families, and groups, delivered by Richmont faculty, doctoral- and master’s-level clinicians, and students under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals.

Serving both the university community and the general public, these centers act as vital training sites. They facilitate the development and implementation of spiritual intervention strategies designed to promote psychological health and spiritual transformation within the standards of professional practice. Additionally, they provide students with a context in which to develop and practice the skills taught in the academic curriculum.

Libraries

Both the Richmont Library in Atlanta and the Poindexter Library in Chattanooga are essential partners with the faculty, staff, and students in the instructional and research endeavors of Richmont Graduate University. Both local libraries serve online students and teaching faculty.

The libraries’ purpose is to foster creative reasoning and critical thinking skills that lead to intellectual and spiritual growth. The libraries work to meet the information needs of the Richmont community through collections that advance scholarship, develop critical competencies, promote lifelong learning, and otherwise support the curriculum, research, and service mission of Richmont Graduate University

The Richmont Libraries maintain physical collections of over 30,000 items, including books, journals, and audiovisual materials. In addition, the Richmont Libraries provide 24-hour digital access to over 500,000 eBooks, 10,000 academic journals, and hundreds of hours of streaming video content through its electronic collections. In particular, individual databases that support research in counseling and human behavior include the American Psychological Association’s PsycINFO, PsycARTICLES, and PsycTESTS, the EBSCO Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection, and the ProQuest Psychology and Social Science Databases. The Richmont Libraries also support our School of Ministry program through theology, religion, and Bible study materials, as well as discipline-specific databases including the EBSCO Religion & Philosophy Collection, the ProQuest Religion Database, and the ATLA Religion Database with ATLA Serials.

Students may access library resources in person during regular business hours or online through the library catalog in GALILEO ((https://www.galileo.usg.edu/psin). Upon request, Richmont Library staff are happy to provide library materials to remote students and faculty free of charge both through copyright-compliant electronic scans and by mail. Should students or faculty need access to a resource not currently held by the Richmont Libraries, robust interlibrary loan services provide quick access to millions of resources from other academic libraries worldwide.

Students may contact the Richmont Libraries by phone, email, or through online forms. Library staff also create and maintain digital Course Guides (located at https://richmont.libguides.com/) for all classes taught at Richmont to facilitate access to class textbooks and other required readings. Students have the option of purchasing or leasing their required textbooks through Richmont’s online bookstore, which is managed by the Richmont Libraries in conjunction with Barnes & Noble.

In addition to its collections, the Richmont Libraries work hand in hand with students to offer a wide array of research and writing support services. Richmont library staff collaborates with students at every stage in the research process, from defining a topic and locating quality sources to proofreading completed drafts for accuracy and compliance with APA 7 or Turabian style. Please note that these services are subject to staff availability and that Richmont librarians are not always available to take last-minute requests. It is best to schedule a consultation well in advance of any deadlines.

Richmont is a member of the Georgia Private Academic Libraries Association (GPALS). All 28 GPALS members offer mutual borrowing and searching privileges with proof of current enrollment at a member school.
